TEACHERTS DAY 5th SEPTEMBER ACTIVITY
India celebrates Teacher's Day on September 5th to honor Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary and his significant contributions as a philosopher and teacher. He believed that teachers should be the best minds in the country and requested that his birthday be observed as Teacher's Day instead of a personal celebration. The day is dedicated to recognizing the hard work and dedication of teachers across the nation.
- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a distinguished philosopher and scholar who became India's second President. He taught at various universities, including the University of Mysore and the University of Calcutta, and was the first Indian to be appointed as the Spalding Professor at the University of Oxford.
- Origin of the celebration:when his students wanted to celebrate his birthday, he humbly suggested they observe it as Teachers' Day instead. This tradition has continued since 1962.
